What are we waiting for?

Posted on 16th November 2008 by bloger in POLITICS - Tags: , ,

People have voted for change, government is in transition, and economy is in turmoil. The majority of people have voted to bring change in Washington and they have to wait until January 20, 2009 to see the change. The government is in transition and we have a lame duck President and Congress. History shows that during the transition period most of the time Presidents and Congress hardly focus on the country’s work. Political pundits suggest that nothing is accomplished by a lame duck President and Congress. During the 77 day transition period Presidents issue executive orders and pardons and their staff focuses on finding new jobs in the private sector. President-elect stays on the sidelines and there is a great emphasis on the fact that there is only one president at one time. The 77 days transition period was appropriate in the old days. We are in the 21st Century and part of a rapidly changing environment. In the old days, the average product life cycle was 7 to 9 years, and our economy was more a regional or national economy. Today, the average product life cycle is 1 to 3 years and we are part of a global economy, and facing serious financial and economic problems.  Real estate values have declined, the mortgage market is in crisis, financial institutions are at the brink of bankruptcy, and the manufacturing sector (auto industry) is short of cash, and the lame duck president and Congress has a billions of dollars bailout plan for the financial and manufacturing sectors. The proposed bailout is more like a short term fix than a long-term solution. Although the majority of people have expressed an opinion for change, their voice will not be part of the decision until after the presidential inaguraution. The concept of one president at a time is a good one. We do not need to change anything or raise any legal issue.  All we need to do is use our commonsense and work together as a nation. The country is in a serious economic condition and we need to form a coalition team that includes the president-elect economic team to address the economic problems the country is facing. We do not have time to wait for the inauguration to bring change in Washington, thousands of people are losing their jobs and houses every month, and business are running out of cash. It is time to break the barrier (legacy, political) without invoking legal issues and work together to address the current economic problems. In the future we need to seriously think whether we should keep the country in transition for 77 days.

Top Ten Must Do for President Elect Barack Obama

Posted on 9th November 2008 by bloger in POLITICS - Tags: , ,

On November 4, 2008, we made history by electing Barack Obama as our next president. We elected a president based on his vision, leadership skills, and his political strategy to solve the problems our country is facing. We as Americans reestablished the fact that America is the land of opportunity and all one has to do is work hard to achieve their dreams. The majority of Americans rejected the old barriers of race and religion to elect the first African American president because of the belief that Obama is the right person to lead America in the twenty first century. This does not mean that we as a nation have reached the point where race and religion will no longer be an issue in our political and social life. The election suggests that majority of people are tolerant of individual’s race and religion, and are ready to build a stronger nation by building a thread between different races and religions. This historic decision of the majority puts a greater burden on President Elect Barack Obama to work hard to solve the problems the country is facing today, and prove to the minority that majority was correct in choosing him as the president.  Here are the top ten things we believe are important at Sunlona.Com for the president elect to be successful as a president.

1.    You were elected by the support of the average American. Do not allow the staff to shield you for the next four years from what is going on in the life of the average American.

2.    You have millions of people in your network and millions around the nation who have supported your campaign for the presidency.  Randomly select a citizen from your network or the nation and talk to them for a few minutes to find out how they feel about your job performance.

3.    You have learned the importance of rapid response in a political campaign. Use the rapid response strategy in solving the country’s problems.

4.    You know the majority of Americans have accepted your argument that judgment counts for the position of the presidency.  Judgment should superseded by experience and polls in your administration.

5.    You have been successful in convincing millions of people that change is needed in Washington DC, and they have elected you as president to bring the change. Now as a representative of millions of people who believe in change in Washington, it is your turn to convinced 435 members of the House and 100 members of the Senate to the concept of change.

6.    You have proven that a grass roots campaign can build the financial strength and political strength of the campaign. Implement a grass roots economic and healthcare plan to strengthen our economy and the health of the nation.

7.    You are planning to make our nation self sufficient in energy needs through various alternative sources’ of energy. A self sufficient energy plan must include a strategy for changing the behavior of users, a dedication of energy providers towards national interest, an investment in technology, and an investment in research and development.

8.    You have experienced the power and the success of digital communication in your presidential campaign. Internet and wireless technology is the backbone of the economy.  Collaboration between the government, manufacturers of digital products, communications service providers, and software developers is needed to make sure everyone in the country has access to basic hardware, software, and networks at an affordable price to be part of the digital economy.

9.    You have raised the concern of math and science education in our schools in the presidential debates. The plan to improve math and science education must include technology, teachers, and parents.

10.  You have the leadership skills, education, intelligence, and charisma to lead the country in the 21st Century. Use your personal strength to rebuild our country’s image in the global community.

Who will be the Winner on November 4, 2008, Obama or McCain?

Posted on 3rd November 2008 by bloger in POLITICS - Tags: , , ,

In a democracy the majority makes the decision to elect the President. The presidential election is not a sports event where an individual or a group is determined as a winner and recognized for their accomplishment.  The election is a hiring process; citizens who have invested in the country through taxes are hiring a chief execute officer, the President, and the board of directors, the Congress, to manage the affairs of the country.  It is similar to a business where investors elect a board of directors on behalf of the stockholders who hire the chief execute officer to manage the company and create wealth for the stockholders.  The goal of management in a business is to maximize the wealth of the stockholders, and the performance of the management is measured by the value of the stock in the market. In the public sector the Chief Executive Office, the President, and the Congress, the board of directors, are supposed to maximize the benefits of the citizens’ investment (taxes) in the country.  The performance of the management (President and Congress) in the public sector is determined by the growth in economy, technology, improved public services, maintenance of law and order, health and welfare of the citizens, national defense, global leadership, and more. There is no winner or loser on an election day. We have two candidates who have applied for the position of the President of United States of America, and the citizens through their right to vote will elect the next president. The candidate who gets the 270 electoral votes will be the next president.

In political elections, the winners or losers are the citizens of our country. The majority that will elect the next President will know whether they are the winner or the loser in the next four years.  We hire Presidents to create economic and social benefits for us in future, like we buy stock to benefit from its growth in the future. So, it is important that we select a President, who understands the future, and has answers for the ten questions that we think are important for presidential candidates, at Sunlona.com. We have two qualified candidates Barack Obama and John McCain running for the president , and it is a mutually exclusive event.  We at Sunlona.com endorse Barrack Obama for the president because for twenty months he has shown his leadership and management skills, and he understands the current issues such as economy, healthcare, energy, education, environment, and has a better strategy to address the problems the country is facing today.
